Eye on ELEMENT - Stefan Heisig

At ELEMENT, we empower MGAs across Europe by accessing insurance capacity and finding the best risk management solutions. As of now, we are active in seven European countries and will grow into further markets with our global mindset. Our “Eye on ELEMENT” series dives into the amazing people dedicated to making this a reality. We aim to explore what they do, their passion and what drives them to succeed.

In this edition, our guest is Stefan Heisig, Head of Intermediary Sales at ELEMENT.

Tell us about your role at ELEMENT and what a typical day looks like for you.

I’m responsible for acquiring new business partners and maintaining relationships with our existing ones. We focus on managing general agents (MGAs) and underwriters, offering them a unique and highly attractive setup for collaboration. What sets us apart is our speed, flexibility, and personal approach.

Typically, my day involves engaging with business partners and collaborating internally with my colleagues at ELEMENT to ensure the success of our projects. I highly value both aspects of my job: working externally with partners and internally with the team.

At its core, my work revolves around inspiring people to get behind a concept or project and motivating them to work together towards a shared success.

What were you doing before you joined ELEMENT?

I've spent my entire professional career in sales within the independent insurance broker market. This includes brokers, underwriters, and distributors. I worked for over 30 years with one of the largest insurance providers in Germany, and for more than 10 years, I was responsible for broker distribution in the life and health insurance sectors.

I firmly believe that having an in-depth knowledge of the market, understanding the systems within this part of the insurance sector, and maintaining strong personal relationships with key players are essential to establishing ELEMENT in this space.

At ELEMENT, we all have the opportunity to contribute to a success story, each in our own unique role with our own special skills.

Looking to the future, what do you hope to achieve at ELEMENT?

I aim to help establish ELEMENT’s focused business model within the MGA space, making our strengths – speed, flexibility, and personal engagement – tangible for our partners.

If we can achieve that, I see a promising future for ELEMENT. The market is in flux, with established players falling behind from our partners' perspective – this opens up opportunities we can seize. What’s crucial, however, is that everyone takes ownership of their role, fights for every partner and project, and works together for success. I've already seen a lot of positive progress, and now it’s about building on that momentum.

What makes you happy in your day-to-day work at ELEMENT?

First and foremost, I’m a salesperson, so naturally, success makes me happy! But it’s not just about gross written premiums or profitability. For me, success also means getting people excited about an idea and walking alongside them on the journey to achieving it.

And also, of course the opportunity to help shape a company and be part of a collective success story – that’s what makes me happy in my daily work!
